Mere schittert aan CUNY firmament
Meredith Simson, Psychology studente bij de City University of New York ( CUNY), is op 11 Mei 2009 gehuldigd bij de 16e jaarlijkse CUNY leadership Awards in The City College of New York.

Mere werd samen met een andere student erkend voor haar boven gemiddelde academische prestaties en leiderschaps kwaliteiten.

De CUNY website meldt het volgende:
"Chowdhury and Simson were selected as this year’s CUNY Student Leadership Award recipients from York College. Each year, the Chief Student Affairs officers from each campus select two students from across the University system to be honored. Students receiving this award and distinction have an average Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or better, and have demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities in both academic and co-curricular activities."

Meredith die als Bachelor of Arts in de Psychologie afstudeerde is actief in de Surinaamse gemeenschap in New York en is zangeres geweest bij de intussen opgeheven Surinaamse Kaseko band " Fiesta Sound NYC".
