Another successful Suriname Day (Sranan Dei) in Queens New York.
Where to start with this years “Sranan Dei” Party & Festival!!!!….WOW….we gaan meer en meeeeerrrr achteruit!!..What happened to being Multi Cultural. It just feels like that with such a small Suriname Community in New York of USA for that matter the Organization would do a much better and organized job but they just really dropped the ball on this one.
The Pre-Party SUCKED!!!and it will be our last time attending it for sure…The band started playing probably around 1 AM when the party technically started at 9 PM and ends at 3 AM.And the DJ was just a JOKE…visiting from NL (Holland: for those of you who don’t know what NL means…LOL) and just played some horrible music that probably ONLY he was dancing to because there were NO people on the dance floor but he still didn’t get the hint to change his music.
And when the “band” FINALLY started playing, they would stop after EVERY song and just broke the rhythm and flow of the party…how amateurish!!!!!!!!!!!!
ONLY positive thing was that they actually had a Hindustani band as well, but NO Jampanesi band this time around (bummer) …so at least we had “some” variety…NOT!!!!
At least the Jampenesi band played a variety of music and a better DJ would definitely help as well but hey…it’s all in the Organization.
Now,the festival is getting worse every year. This time we were not allowed to park in the lot which was OK if the Organization would put the PROUDLY Suriname Flag at the PROPER entrance!!
And there’s nothing to say that it was an actual SU Party because there was just ONE band which started LATE as usual with no variety at all and they had the same stupid DJ again.
Food was mediocre, depends where you bought it from and at least the Organization got something for the kids…hhmmm…A Clown….lol…I guess they didn’t wanna put too much thinking into that as well.
Overall, this years SU Festival and Pre-Party SUCKS and hope they do better next year.
GET SOME VARIETY MUSIC AND A BETTER DJ.
Sorry to rip the Organization but they deserve it and didn’t do well at all.
What’s up with the ticketing system to get food & drinks at the Pre Party????I had some left over and at one point the “bar” just closed without announcing ANYTHING.
So now I have some extra tickets that are still in my pocket and they have some extra cash…but I guess I’ll try using them at Dave & Buster’s when I bring my kids there next time….hahaa
I was very disappointed with the Pre-Sranang dei party. The band started very late , and Suriname people can not keep up with the time. I will not spend my money on another party again. The Sranang De Festival was lousy. we did not had a formal opening and every year less and less people are coming to celebrate the festival. If this continue like this, i am out. We can do better
Tamara wi e go moro fara. Ik ben inmiddels weer in Blanda. odi odi
God bless you all
groeten van Talita-Yvonne en familie
The photographer only focus on the black people them . 85 % of all the pictures them post on Fawaka .net is the same faces and same black people them .Djerrel and the other photographer only take pictures of black people and post it here like there is no Javanese or Indian people in Suriname .
Langa… if u want your picture taken you need to buy your own camera. P.S. didn’t your mom tell you that if you don’t have anything nice to say you best not say anything at all. You sound totally ignorant…not surprising though, being that you are from Suriname. Ugh!
Every year this event Sranang Dei gets worser and worser.First of all, many of us got confused at the entrance, because the flag was hanging there but you cant get through.I mean put the flag so we knew where we had to enter.Secondly, the food, everybody that had a stand was selling food. What happened to free food since its an event???How about a little tip at least.I understand everybody wants to make money, but not to forget its all of us Suriname people getting together only on this particular day.So at least sell the food at a decent price. And as third, the band and DJ,real lousy music for sure. Why not save all the money, they make at all the parties and get a band from overseas. The same band that played at the regular parties played at Sranang Dei that’s a big No No.As last but not least, there was a photographer???Really because I have not seen him/her at all.Whomever is organizing this event every year needs to change the date and discuss how to make this day a better day for all of us Suriname people here and others that visit.Enough Said!!!
